Durga Pujas in Bangalore

All Durga Puja in Bangalore or Bengaluru.

For the last five years I am in Bangalore and have enjoyed Durga Puja every year. I used to shutdown myself when I was in Kolkata due to the crowd. To me it was too much to handle. Back in 90’s during my school days, I was never a part of any club or participated actively in any Puja. To me Durga Puja is all about finishing the Pujobarshiki editions of most of the magazines.

When I came to Batngalore back in June 2005, I had no friend to talk and share as I used to do earlier. I used to go to Bangaliana and the owner asked me if I am in Bangalore during Puja, I said yes. Then he informed that they organize Puja nearby and invited me to join and have Bhog there during those days. I thought of spending Puja days differently. Frankly, this time I enjoyed Puja greatly. I never have had enjoyed Puja like this – starting from Pujabarshiki to Bhog and some Bengali program. Since then this Puja is my personal favorite. Though it has lost its homely charm but it is necessary to be commercialized things to sustain. There are also a lot of other organizations across the Bangalore.

Unlike West Bengal, Bangalore Durga Pujas are very homely.

1. Koramangala Durga Puja – This one is my favorite and gives you pleasure in many ways. Bhog, Bengali Books, Food Stall, Anjoli to many touching things you will get here. This Puja is organized by Sarathi Socio Cultural Association. From Forum to NGV (National Games Village) in between Ganesha Temple is at right side, this is just opposite to that. 2. Ulsoor Lake Durga Puja – Organized by famous Bengali Association. This is huge Puja and if you miss your club with mighty puja, this is the place. http://www.bengaleeassociation.org
