Cycling Around - Hercules City Challenge Bangalore Oct 2010

Sunday Oct 10, 2010 is a memorable day. Prior to that week we have decided to join the Hercules City Challenge Bangalore 2010. This was a clue based fun ride where you will start from one place and move to another by finding the clues given to you. And the next clue can be received once you reach the place. Peeyush sent an email to our internal discussion requesting people to join. Bhuwan came to my desk to ask for my cycle. I said let me see if I can join. I had to go somewhere but managed to skip. Finally from Microsoft Wriju Ghosh, Bhuwan Upadhyay, Arun Kandoth and Peeyush Thakur joined. Thanks to Arun for registering on behalf of all of us.

It was Sunday morning at 5:45 AM we had to assemble at one place near Kormongla. This place was 3 km away from my home. I was all set to go and packed on Saturday night. I got a call from Bhuwan at around 4:45 AM. Started from home at 5:30 AM. It was different crowd there.  All of them are quite professionals and geared up well. Our goal was to enjoy. Since I reached little later than other folks of Microsoft, they put me to the 2nd group. But when the group 1 started I broke the rule and join them. We just wanted to have fun and was chatting along.

1st Clue - it was Mother Earth located in Intermediate Ring Road opposite to DELL. Me, Peeyush and Bhuwan reached there and during this phase we missed our dear friend Arun who was in a racing mood. We decided not to be apart.

2nd Clue - It was RTO at Indiranagar, all the way through 100ft road we have reached there. We had water and glucose and packed some additional water bottle.

3rd Clue - It was again in German Council at Indiranagar - I had no idea of what and where it it. Thanks to Bhuwan and Peeyush who were quite well versed. I felt the power of Collaboration again.

4th Clue - This time it was the Hotel Leela Palace took some photos and got to know that organizing committee does not have any so called camera with them. I have offered them to shoot few.

5th Clue - This time it was in Ejipura signal at BSA Cycle store. Two beautiful girls were waiting for us and when we were discussing about the 6th clue, I am sure they were smiling because we were discussing the wrong clue. We have rectified it while going and fortunately it was on the same way.

6th Clue - It was Christ College and that was the last clue. We had to go back to the main venue. We knew that will not win it but were happy to finish.

We have covered around 25 km.

It was 100% fun, after we have reached there, they have provided us a plastic bottle and juice with biscuit pack. We had to wait for sometime as people were joining us back from the race. After that they will announce the winners.

 

 

 

 

Champion and Runner-up would get a sponsored trip Himachal from Hercules Cycles. 

They also had 6 lucky draws and three of us (Peeyush, Bhuwan and Wriju) won that.

At the end of the trip we were very happy as we all enjoyed a lot and also the Bangalore weather was too good. No big issue happened with us except one accident, I did not get the complete information and hope the person is fine.
